HERE TODAY - GONE TOMORROW

Both Family Nurse Practitioners, Jennifer Poff and Shelley Cottrill, are ‘here today’, yet Shelley will be ‘gone tomorrow’. As Braxton County Memorial Hospital bids farewell to Shelley, we welcome back Jenny. During the week of April 22nd, these two mid-level providers worked together to ensure the smoothest transition possible for patients at the Braxton Community Health Center.

Neither Shelley or Jenny are strangers to BCMH. Shelley initially came to BCMH as a new graduate of Fairmont State in 1982. She worked as a staff nurse prior to pursuing other goals, then returned to BCMH as Director of Nursing. During this time, Shelley earned her Masters from the College of WV at Beckley. Her career and educational pursuits led her away from BCMH once again, yet she returned in August 2007 as a Family Nurse Practitioner. On April 23rd, Community Health Center staff presented Shelley with parting gifts and extended best wishes in all her future endeavors.

Jenny originally joined the BCMH family in June 2009 working part time in the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse. She had obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of WV in 2001. While working at BCMH, she continued her education receiving her Masters from Mountain State University in 2010. To continue her education, Jenny left BCMH in October 2011, and returns to us now as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Erin King, FNP-C says, “Shelley will be missed, but I am looking forward to working with Jenny at this level. As nurses, we worked together in the Emergency Department and became good friends.”

Jenny is a native of Summersville and prior to coming to BCMH, she worked five years as a Home Health nurse in Nicholas and Webster Counties. She comments, “I am happy to be back at BCMH. I have been welcomed by friends and feel very comfortable here.” As we say goodbye to Shelley and welcome Jenny, we believe that as today fades into tomorrow, BCMH will continue with our mission of Caring for you close to home.
