The Admitting Department: Chris Jarrett, Nicole Lilly and Linda Perkins
Admitting was selected as Department of the Quarter for the 1st quarter of 2013. Radiology’s Chief Tech, Robin Gump, RT(R)(M), began her nomination for this award by enumerating the many responsibilities fulfilled daily by the three ladies in Admitting, which include registering outpatients for all departments, inpatient admissions, and surgery patients. Robin says, “Admitting personnel are the first employees patients come in contact with; and they are diligent in obtaining the necessary information for registration. In performing all of the tasks at hand, they have not forgotten that there is a person behind the paperwork!” Robin explains, “The Admitting staff, for quite some time, have notified Mammography if a patient is private pay. There are at least two entities within the county that either provide assistance or completely pay for mammograms - Saving Our Sisters and the Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program (BCCSP) through the Braxton County Health Department. However, many individuals are unaware of their existence.” Robin concluded the nomination by sharing two success stories involving patients with no health insurance. Following a mammogram, it was determined that a biopsy was required for one individual. Through the BCCSP, the examination, reading of the mammogram, additional imaging and biopsy expenses were covered 100%, saving the patient a significant amount of money. Another patient was quickly scheduled for an appointment with the Braxton County Health Department as a result of the concern Chris Jarrett, Admitting Clerk, has for our patients. The three smiling faces behind the Admitting window at BCMH are greatly appreciated! Their interest in the wellbeing of our patients and the attentiveness they demonstrate toward meeting their needs merits the Department of the Quarter Award. Congratulations, Admitting!
