Department of the Quarter

The Emergency Department was chosen as  Department of the Quarter for the 4th quarter of 2013.

During this season of giving, perhaps one of the most significant, yet often overlooked gifts is the performance of what may be considered our ‘every day duties’. Helen Keller said, “I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.” The staff of BCMH’s Emergency Department are available 24/7 for patients suffering from illness and accidents. Some may be categorized as minor, while others are life threatening, yet these healthcare providers treat each patient with the same compassionate care. By simply fulfilling their daily duties, they recently made an impact on two patients from the community as well as one traveling through the area. Commending the physicians and nurses of the Emergency Department, a local gentlemen stated, “They are outstanding and probably saved my life, if the truth be known.” Having felt more sick than he ever remembered, he credited the ‘excellent care’ he received from the Emergency Department staff for his ‘much improved’ health.

Another individual traveling through the area recently acknowledged the ‘doctors and nurses’ for ‘an outstanding job, including follow-up a week later’ after returning to his home in Atlanta. To emphasize his appreciation, this patient inquired as to the possibility of donating to our not-for-profit facility through the BCMH Foundation. In the course of accomplishing their daily tasks, the staff of BCMH’s Emergency Department make an impression on those receiving care. Whether saving lives or treating minor illnesses, their efforts are considered ‘great and noble’ and sincerely appreciated by Braxton County Memorial Hospital!
